[Visions Electronics] RCA 48" 1080P LED TV (RT4804) $298 (OOS Online) & Bluetooth Soundbar with Optical Input $38 (9/9/17 Only)

Image

Visions has this RCA 48" 1080P LED for $298 Saturday only in their Grand Opening Sale I assume that it will be available online and in store, but unsure if free shipping is still included.
This gets OK reviews, the main complaint seeming to be sound quality.
By chance Visions also has a Proscan 37" Bluetooth Soundbar with Optical Input (PSB3713OP) on sale tomorrow only for $38 so that might make a decent economy combo for someone not interested in a 4K TV.

I would give my life to protect your right to say something really funking stupid.

Respect your OP's. They don't get paid to do this, and don't have to come here to post their deals for you. They can all just hoard their deals in silence, if you prefer?

Don't get that Proscan soundbar. Worst purchase I ever made. Sound quality is horrible, doesn't save the last input after powered off not even settings.

Yeah if that is the same sound bar that came with the Proscan tv a while back for the 329 combo, its garbage. Sounds like a clock radio. I still have mine if anyone wants it for 20 bucks lol.

Don't buy this TV. RCA name is used under license by extremely low-end unknown overseas manufacturers. Majority of these will not last past 1 year.

Between all of the TV brands licensed to overseas companies and all of the outsourcing of inexpensive models by the companies that still manufacture their own TVs , there aren't too many budget options that aren't made by these "low end" manufacturers. I wouldn't just dismiss them en masse. If you investigate them on a case by case basis, you might find a hidden jem, if you are willing to make some trade-offs. Not necessarily saying this one is a jem, just that you can not just buy or not buy a TV any longer by name recognition, or name aversion?, especially if you want to go budget. For example those Costco 4K Haiers that got a lot of love this past year, are the same models as the 4K RCA's and 4K Proscans. You will hear various personal preferences, like/ dislike of each brand, but they are in essence the same TV from the same manufacturer, the name is irrelevant except in regards to perhaps some variance in warranty and service considerations.

I'm sure there are RCA TV's that are working perfectly. I would rank the Hisense and Haier models above Sylvania and RCA.

So what evidence do you have that the "Majority of these will not last past 1 year"? That's a pretty extreme statement.

I don't have any evidence, it's just my opinion. I wouldn't buy any RCA because I see a large number of complaints, returns and escalations regarding this brand. The majority may be an exaggeration, however the failure rate seems disproportionately high from my perspective.

The margin on these is also much better than the major brands. 65" 4K RCA can be sold for $699 and there is still a descent profit to be made.

I don't get why people bother with soundbars. If you want a cheap audio upgrade for any TV, then just get a set of $40 computer speakers and hook them up via 3.5mm.

The tv features say it is not hdcp compliant would that cause any issues with an illico box or an apple tv? I don't think ill. Find a 298 tv 48 inch cheaper.

Thanks OP. Can anyone suggest a cheap stand to go with it? Wall mounting isn't an option.

So this RCA is $298 with free shipping as per the website. If anyone is not near a Visions, or cant transport one if they are.

Thanks for the heads up! Do you have a suggestion for a good soundbar for a student on a budget?
