Replace your Bell/Rogers/Telus home phone with VoIP.ms to save hundreds of $$$ each year

It's been almost a month since I have switched over from shaw. At first, I thought it was going to be a pain to do so but it was pretty straight forward.

I purchased the grandstream HT801 from newegg and it arrived within 3-4 days. Followed the steps outlined in the wiki and haven't had any problems. Initiated the port and that took 5 business days. After porting had been completed, I had to contact shaw to remove the landline from my account. Comparing at what I was paying at shaw $15/month versus now ~$3/month. - it's huge savings long term.

If you're thinking about switching, consider to do so - if it makes sense for you. I wish I had switched earlier!

Can I port my VOIP.ms number to a cellphone? Tired of paying for this is American money.

The fact that VoIP.ms is in USD is irrelevant.
What matters is what you get and for how much.
Would it be better if it was twice as expensive but in CAD?
Or half price but in Euros?
CAD/USD is just an extra calculation step.
In my opinion, VoIP.ms is a great product at a cheap price.

Doesn't really answer my question. As for my comment, I get hit with extra charges paying in US$. And its a CDN company. Anyway, still want to port over to a cell.

Anyone know if voip.ms supports call waiting w/ Caller ID? Thinking about switching from italkbb.

Noticed in the FAQS that Magicjack doesn't support Call Waiting w/ Caller ID. Ooma supports it and so does itallkbb, but the voice quality sometimes is good, but most times it's horrendous. Can't find the info on voip.ms site

So during a call, another call comes in, it displays the number? Sorry, I did check out the features, but it did only mention call waiting, but doesn't say if it displays the number while you're in a current call. That's what got me confused. I also thought Call waiting w/ Caller ID was standard with all voip providers as well til I saw Magicjack's features.

Why is this thread in Expired Deals?

I'm trying to set up my new HT812 to work with voip.ms. Their Wiki doesn't have an article on this model so I followed the instructions for HT802. I can't get it to work. It won't register on voip.ms' network. Their support people tell me that they can't reach the ATA from their end using my public IP address.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Could this be a firewall issue in my DSL modem/router (SmartRG SR515AC)?

Does anyone here have an HT812 working with voip.ms?

I haven't tried with any other bank but can confirm that it works with TD.
