Ouch. Volvo's going to need to fix this or upgrade its cameras and sensors.
Why - because its OK to run over soft toys shaped like cats and dogs (like the TM3 did) but not a kangaroo soft toy?

I would have expected the TM3 to at least flag up that there is something in its path (regarding fake cat and dog) - it is supposed to be state of the art autonomous driving / AI.

These systems are always going to be evolving and fringe cases (like a narrow kangaroo) are going to get by some systems. Paying attention to what's in front of you is better than relying on sensors, cameras, and AI, no matter what.

Deal with it.

What if it was a child lying in the road and not a dog?

Don’t trust autopilot or sensor. Trust in myself cause I am simply amazing.

What if we drive our cars and leave the AI for roads with no pedestrian only?

Interesting. But there are so many variables.

For example, software version. A car manufactured in July 2021 doesn't detect the animals, but the car manufactured in August does (just a possible scenario) and it's as simple as newer software version.

So it is a great Youtube video, but the size of the sample (testing 2 cars) doesn't allow us to jump to generalizations.
