VW Atlas Oil Change - Etobicoke

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for an oil change for 2019 Atlas in the Etobicoke area (Royal York and Lakeshore)? VW wants $160 and my mechanic is too far of a drive for me.

Thanks in advance!

Is $160 too much? How much do you stand to save while maintaining your $40k+ vehicle?

That's quite the mark-up for less than $40 of oil/filter.

dealer probably allocated $80 for labors & overheads + $70 for synthetic oils and oil filter + $10 sundry = $160 + taxes

Do you think there is any value to bring it to VW for service? Recalls, updates, etc?

The independents charge ~$120, some $160.

For me, I never bring mine to dealer for this type of servicing. Oil change at my dealer $250 + taxes. Oil change at my mechanics at around $160 (all incl.)

But for warranty services and other services that my mechanics has no time or equipments to do, I will take it back to dealer.

Bottom line is, it's a personal preference where you want the service to be done. No rights or wrongs per se.

Meh. Firstly, the OP isn't comparing dealer with DIY but dealership with mechanic - the savings will be small. Secondly, we're not talking about a 20 year old Corolla here. It is a valuable asset that is probably still under a powertrain warranty.

I didn't suggest DIY, just saying dealer is paying very little. Of course they have overheads and whatnot, but $160 or $250+ is ridiculous for oil change. They say they're doing other checks, but that's not warranty related and you can easily DIY that, like checking your fluid levels, check wipers, check tires, etc. I wonder if you can just ask dealer for oil change only for under $100.
At the very least, go to a trusted indy mechanic who uses OEM filters.

I'm not really challenging you or anyone here. I am not sure if it's worth shopping around to save $40 on an oil change on a pricier vehicle that is relatively new and still under warranty. Others will see it differently. Vive la difference...
