I saw that but figure the extra 8gb of ram, SSD along with a 'free' mouse, mousepad and a headset made them comparable but maybe not, lol

+200 for SSD/+8GB ram and mouse+headset vs backpack is not bad at all.

I paid $1000 for the Acer Inspire VX (which is this, with a TN panel instead of an IPS) nearly 2 years ago, granted without the peripherals. The laptop is good, but I'd want a 1060 or 20xx if I was buying new today. It does play most games well and I don't have any broken keys or issues yet so it is well built.

Would the 1050ti have any problems running certain games/apps?

No, it handles everything well enough, next gen may be an issue. It will chonk down to 15-20 FPS on unoptimized games but AAA titles are fine, it does fine on Witcher 3 at medium. I just noted that my price comparison was a bit off because I have the i7 / TN panel / SSD version of the Nitro 5.

Nice deal I wish I waited for this, I bought the acre nitro gtx 1060 for $1199 2 months ago .

Was the $200 price diff worth the jump from 1050ti to 1060?
