[Walmart] ALASKAN Premium Ice Melter- 10kg for $5 to $7.50 - Ottawa and QC - YMMV

Looks like it's only discounted at the following stores. The Ottawa Bayshore store keeps these on a skid in the main aisle near the health/beauty section.

Nothing in the GTA that I could see on stocktrack, no stock available.

People are going to go to a store to save a few bucks on something they don't need until next winter? With the Covid 19 virus hitting the world. Really??? Please everybody think about this.

You can go while you buy other stuff like groceries ... but yeah, these days I don’t go to a store for a single product on sale...

I don't suggest people go out for single items unless it's for essential items and necessary either. This is for people who are there anyway and may as well pick up these on their way out since it's near the cash. If you think that the post is meant for people to run out and hoard then Hot Deals would no longer exist except for online items. Heck, this is also good for people planning on long term isolation until next winter

Thanks OP. Got 6 bags.

They also had 10KG of regular -15C salt for 2$ instead of 4$.

Assuming left unopened, will they last to next winter, or will they degrade effectiveness (or something like that) over time?

they will last till next year - but they lump into one big brick. FYI

$1 is the absolute lowest that I've ever seen, stocktrack shows just 8 left in Lasalle so they should be gone by now. These will be fine for a few years if you keep them dry and don't let moisture get in, I still have some older bags from previous years not clumped together and will be fine for years. The same thing also happens to lawn fertilizer if you let the moisture in so keep moisture away from them.

$9.97 for a 22kg bag is very good too, it's half their regular price.

Salt is a good solution to kill off viruses(?)

From the web:
“When virus-carrying water droplets sit on the surface, the salt dissolves and water begins to evaporate,” he explained. “During the evaporation process the salt crystals begins to grow and a very sharp edge of the crystal basically destroys the virus.”
