Goes to show why people should have basic knowledge of how their car works. Changing a car battery is a pretty easy job for almost anyone.

There was something funny I seem remember about certain VWs that you had to be careful while changing the battery.
I think it was that the alternator connections to the battery corrodes over time and it may get disturbed while the battery is changed
If the connection develops high resistance, it gets really hot and destroys / melts the fuse box

Maybe one of the VW guys knows more about it ?

Cambridge, ON/Guelph…
I think the tech shorted out the ecu by bridging a connection from the battery to the ECU. I know on the mk7 golfs, the ECU is located pretty close to the battery and some people on the forums actually have done the same thing.

That's likely why the cost of repair was that high.

Sounds like the cables where hooked up backwards (or battery installed wrong way around.)

Walmart did the right thing, though looks like it took much longer then it should have unfortunately...

We have become too dependent on others as humans. Most people are too scared and not knowledgeable to even change a battery, me included
Even if we learn stuff, there is always someone who says oh thats wrong way to do it, lol. Ends up more confusing.
Nobody wants to mess with electronics anyway, u need to be expert in this stuff
