[Walmart] Bowflex SelectTech 1090 Dumbbell Pair - $419

In stock online

Since canuckgameguy is running a full fledged investigation into this deal I will add: The UPC can also show up for one dumbbell because they are each packaged separately, every 1090 comes in it's own box with that UPC code. You can buy both a single or pair, and this Walmart product page is for the pair even though it shares the same UPC as a single. There will be two big boxes for you to pick up in store.

Is that for a single dumbbell, or for the pair? Assembled weight is 90lbs, so I'm leaning towards a single dumbbell.

Thanks,
Cal.

Dumbbells like these are literally the best investment you could make towards fitness if you're not a gym goer. I prefer the powerblocks because the dimensions are smaller and shape more convenient (the bowflex are quite long making them awkward in certain exercises). They retain their value, so if you do decide to get a gym membership afterwards, you can sell them for almost full price years down the road.

So, found the 552s on sale via rfd on 2019/11/12 (at least that's what the receipt said) for 460$ for the pair at Canadian Tire.

If these are in fact a pair they are a crazy steal. I ordered one just in case it does come in pairs and I'll be taking my 552s back!

The stand is a good price too. Got mine for 149$ at Amazon (I'll keep that. To lazy to take it all a part and ship it back for $30).

My order says it's available for pick up on 2019/12/07 so I'll advise then!

Looks like the 552's are also on sale, for $299, so you'll be taking them back regardless ;)

It's a pair afterall - but, you can get 90lbs of plates for a 5th of this price. This is a terrible value, unless you really want to see that ''BowFlex" logo every time you do a rep...

Don't be surprised if it is only a single. The UPC code (708447504777) is most often associated with a single dumbbell as per a quick google search. Also, although the listing says "dumbbells" in the title, no where in there that I can see actually says "pair".

Did Bowflex fix the mechanical issue for the 1090s at the manufacturing level? Horrible reviews on Amazon in the past about weight plates falling off at a plastic point of failure, even when the whole set is babied. It's an unacceptable design flaw for the price, and one that could lead to serious injury.

I have nothing but good things to say about my 552s (metal locking tabs where it counts.)

Description says "each dumbbell adjusts up to 90 lbs" and picture shows two, product title says dumbbell(s). Its definately a pair and they've been cheaper before, they go on sale every year.

The UPC is also tied to a pair and not just a single dumbbell like you said, Google it and it brings you to the bowflex website listing for two or see here: https://www.upcitemdb.com/upc/708447504777

Not sure if Bowflex fixed them but this is the reason why I sold mine and got the Powerblock U90s instead.

To anyone who orders and receives this production batch from Walmart... please update the thread with close up pictures confirming plastic or metal locking tabs used to secure the weight plates.

Very tempted to pick up a pair of the 552's but I'm going to hold out for BF and hope they get a little cheaper.

I got a set of 1090s from Walmart last year at $200 and they have the updated metal tab mechanism.

You got in on insane deal then... $200 for a pair! Wow gj. How have they been holding up to wear and tear? Any glaring weaknesses with the design or bulky shape when it comes to your work out flow and certain exercises?
