[Walmart] Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W-20/5W-30/10W-30 5L @ $23.77

Walked through the aisle and noticed the 5L jugs of Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W-20, 5W-30, and 10W-30 @ $23.77 rollback until October 24.

Can always price match at Canadian Tire for Triangle members. Also noticed the 4.73L jugs of Mobil 1 High Mileage @ $28.97 for comparison.

This is a synthetic blend oil which I don't trust, I would consider it as non-synthetic. This is for "high mileage/kilometerage cars" with over 120,000km? My engine was just broken in at that point. Now 406,000km and still using regular "low-mileage" oil.
I've been spoiled by the deals on Pennzoil and SuperTech full synthetic now on sale at WM.

What do you use to maintain your vehicle at that high mileage? Mine is in the high 300s.

Somewhat depends on the type of maintenance schedule you follow, age of the vehicle (original spec), & gasket/seal leaks. If your vehicle has significant engine leaks, synthetics can actually magnify the problem. If you do regular oil changes, Conventional types can be used generally on a 5W Spec. One of the reasons, 5W / 10W weights have been routinely on sale (i.e. Blends & Full Synthetics), is vehicles of this vintage typically were originally serviced / designed tolerances with Dino Oil in mind (not the new synthetics)
