[Walmart] CCM 2092 Hockey Skates $35-$49

Clearance Ice Skates at Walmart. The reviews on these are really bad so I wouldn't actually play hockey with them. But if you need something cheap for an occasional public skate, this might do the trick. Canadian Tire also have a Hespeler Senior Skate for $40, which might be better.

Youth $35
Junior $42
Senior $49

Better than renting skates, but need to break them in, which takes hours.

Just bake them in the oven and call it a day

Keep in mind that skate sizes are very different from shoe sizes. My Nike runners are 8.5 and my CCM hockey skates are 6.0

So if my shoe size is 14, I'd have to go with 13?

CCM usually recommends at least 1.5 size lower than shoe size so you'd be around 12.5 actually. Size Chart. I personally prefer going at least 2.0 sizes lower so that there isn't any space at all for my foot to slip around in inside the skate. Hard for me to guess what you prefer but I'd go for size 12 if I were you, as long as they allow returns if you decide you don't like that size.

I got a very similar skate for the same price at SportChek last year and they did the baking on site, and then had me wear them for a few minutes. It was a nice added bonus that I wasn't expecting. I was pleasantly surprised at the skates for the price. All I need to go skating a few times a year with the kids.

Wonder what the bad reviews are around. Tacks is usually a decent line from CCM.
