[Walmart] Dyson V8B Cordless Vacuum - Refurbished $275 (via Dyson Official Outlet)

was thinking of buying this @ $299 from the other deal when I noticed it's $25 cheaper at walmart and has free shipping. don't know if this is the best price it's ever been but it seems like a pretty good deal. comes with 1 yr warranty

Lately lot of issues with Dyson eBay purchase, especially with V8H. My last order was cancelled after two weeks stating that "Buyer requested to cancel order". But I never canceled the order. I think few other RFD members also faced same issue.

Yup. I got stiffed by them as well. EBay just turned a blind eye to entire fiasco. Shame on both of them. Now you go and try sell something on eBay and then back out of the deal 3/4 weeks later! I bet eBay would be after you!

Me too. Dyson and their Ebay site have shown themselves dishonest. Not only canceled orders made in good faith, but put the same item up immediately for $100 more.

If they'd made a price error, they might have said so, but they offered no explanation, so I presume it was just a cash grab cuz there was demand.

Never again.

Question 🙋‍♂️ since Dyson seems to have a lot of refurbished vacuum, should I understand that they aren’t durable vacuum?
It’s either they have a trade-in system like Apple or that they have so many issues with their stuff they have sufficient stock to continually have them in stock …

On durability, get access to Consumer Reports online with a paid sub, or free through your library. They recently downgraded Dyson as the top cordless, because of user data around reliability. Shark cordless are rated higher, and I believe you can still buy direct from Shark U.S. at par, giving Canucks a healthy discount.

Personally, I stuck with Dyson because I was already in the system, and the ubiquity of the accessories and the availability of third-party replacement batteries, is great. Dysons are also top rated in terms of user experience. People love them. There is really no going back to a corded vacuum.

The three refurbs I bought were unmistakably, sparkling brand new. Although I've heard of folks getting Dysons that were scuffed, or with worn batteries. One can always return.

The Dysons I've seen in retail shops have the fancy (expensive) glossy printed photograph boxes. My new, "refurb" Dysons were all sent in brown cardboard.

That's how Apple does it too, I've read, they create savings in packaging, and sell new units that way. The degree to which either company sells products as "refubs", that may in fact be well-used, YMMV.

Make sure you know the return policy.

Other brands may offer better value, I'm not sure because the only cordless vacuum I've owned is the Dyson v8. We bought it 6 years ago refurbished from Dyson and it still works great. Battery life isn't great in comparison to the newer models but it's the only vacuum we own in the house and it does the job. I'd definitely recommend the soft head if you have hard floors. I only use the normal head for area rugs. Great value!

How much is the wood floor part? I also ordered the v8h from ebay and they cancelled it. If I was to pay 275 for this how much is the additional piece?

I bought the V8 from Costco in 2018. The battery is dead now, does it make sense to get this deal just for the battery? Or is there any cheaper way to get the battery? It’s showing $159 for the battery alone. That’s crazy

Buy a 3rd party battery. Much cheaper and probably bigger capacity. What do you have to loose?

Do you know of any reliable 3rd party brand? I searched Amazon but the majority of them are unknown sellers, not even sure if their reviews are legit?

I ordered a new battery from Dyson for my V6. Since it was my first order with them, they gave me 20% off a new battery.

What's the difference between V8H vs V8B? Live in a house with hardwood floors. Is this the right model for me?

V8b just has the standard power-head, which is great for carpets and is good enough for hard floors, although on hard floors it sometimes "kicks" larger bits of things, like cat kibble, across the floor.

V8H is typically more expensive, as it additionally includes the 'soft roller' which is excellent on hard floors, and sucks up most everything.

If you have lots of hard floors, it's worth buying the V8H.
