[Walmart] Every VR Headset $3 (YMMV)

Not trying to repost if someone already did.

But just found that all the VR headset enclosures are $3 at my local Walmart.

Most of these come with Bluetooth controller as well.

It's pretty sick as a Christmas present lol

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Update

I am not sure why are people arguing about this and comparing this with Oculus and Vive. It's $3

Google and John Carmack declared VR for phones pretty much dead. =< I'm still waiting for a nice Oculus Quest deal though. HAH!

Different types of housing and controllers. One had a steering wheel shaped controller. And the controller had a rumble motor in it too. It's insane lol

Hi MaaniOG, thanks for the update. Do you know whether Walmarts all over Canada have the same deals or are there differences from state to state? I'm asking because I'm from Ottawa.

Yes they are.
They'll all make you think that VR is vastly over-hyped.
Sadly, these devices are NOTHING EVEN CLOSE TO REAL PC-based, Quest, or even Oculus Go VR experiences.

They're fine for viewing 360 videos, and.....ummmmm....other content  , but these are not immersive 6dof gaming devices.

Kind of like comparing SPAM to a nicely prepared steak. Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes

Up-voted anyways, as I'll always up-vote anything VR-related....spread the word!

I'd say it's $3 so if you haven't tried a VR headset give it a go.

Almost as same price as a Big Mac on Hockey Game day...lol

For $3 and if you haven't tried it before - it's worth it just to experience how different it is.

I had the CV1, loved it, sold it because I found that at the time there wasn't anything very worthwhile coming out to play.

Has that changed since then? As I am also going to look into the Rift S instead of the quest if and when it goes on sale.

Lots of good games now.

If you want a Rifts S, the best way is to see if your Microsoft account qualifies for the 10% student discount and then purchase discounted xbox cards at Costco to load in to your MS account. This way you'll save about $100

These are $3 for a reason. The OS bits that these cheap headsets rely on are going away: https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/16/209 ... forms-dead

Not sure if it still is this way but on sale the rift CV1 used to be 449.99 with free shipping and no tax right from oculus.com

So which is the better deal?

oculus = $550 (no tax or shipping)
MS w/student discount = 495 x 1.13 = $559 x 0.90 (costco cards) = $503

Must be a temporary price error, gear vr at milner rang up as 199 today.

The other cheaper headsets were regular price

Everyone, please also mention your PROVINCE on the OP to help out your fellow RFDer on the likelihood of the sales at their location.

I'm happy to have gotten up early today as I have work to do anyways but I wouldn't have tried if I knew the deal is from a different province.
