[Walmart] Expired in GTA: Walmart: Instant Dry Yeast $1.97

Lallemand Instaferm Instant Dry Yeast Leavening Agent, Red, 15.88 Oz.

Updates: looks like the price is back to $6.97.

Just found out in store at Walmart on Instant Dry Yeast for $1.97 only. Packages found were mostly with an expiry date in June, 2022.

Here's the screenshot of stock track inventory status

Costco sells active dry yeast which is different than instant. "Instant yeast can be added directly into your dough instantly, while active dry yeast needs to be dissolved in water and activated."

Costco sells both now. I've seen this exact SKU at Costco.

Good. People need to read the package to make sure that they get the type that they like to use.

Don't worry too much about expiration dates on Instant dry yeast - just freeze it and it will keep for a long time.

I went to the Rexdale Walmart yesterday. I went to the Baking section and was able to find small bottles and packets of yeast, but I was unable to find this. Stocktrack says there is 150 at Rexdale Walmart.

Same for me at another location. There was supposed to be 197 and I didn't see any not even an empty shelf space with the label for it. Did anyone besides the OP find any?

I use Costco's directly in our bread machine and it works awesome every time. Being fine grained yeast there is no problem at all. Have been using it for years with the bread machine without prior dissolving in water.

I've found that Walmarts are not consistent in how they treat discontinued/clearance items. Some will leave it in the regular section and label it clearly with a clearance sign while others will move all of that clearance stuff into clearance sections with the department which may be a distance away from the regular section. And of course, there is always the possibility that it's in a box in the back of the store.

Found at local Walmart. It was not on shelves yet. Asked employee who asked manager to look in back where they found plenty.

Yep you need to ask a clerk, they were in the back stockroom. Its 450 grams approximately 1 pound brick. FYI 1 pack has about 48-53 tablespoons, according to Google.

For anyone at the Richmond (BC) North Walmart Superstore, there are plenty on the shelf but the price tag is wrong. They scan for $1.97 each.

Thanks OP!
Got 1. Not worth stocking up IMHO as you likely only need a little every time.
If you don't store it properly in a cool dry place, the yeast will fail to raise up the dough and you'll end up wasting your other ingredients.
