Google Home Mini 19$ in-store (YMMV)

I see that there are still two available for $19 apiece at Billings Bridge in Ottawa. Good price, unfortunately I have run out of places to put them in our house.

Not bad, so far the Spotify deal that went by for the Nest Mini's was epic. $ 5 under a student account or $10 each.

I believe the 2nd gen is called the 'Nest Mini' so this is 1st gen if I'm not mistaken.

I was just going to ask the same thing - that's the impression I'm getting from OP's photo and the website listing, that these are 1st gen.

Anyone know what the difference is? We mainly use ours for listening to music and checking the weather, not sure if that experience is any different between 1st and 2nd gen?

Nest branded ones (2nd gen) have significantly improved sound quality, a wall hook on the back, and unfortunately no longer use MicroUSB for power (they use a round barrel plug now).

Noticeable difference in sound compared to first gen. My wife noticed right away before I did the A-B comparison.

Seem to be the 1st gen. Even the 2md gen Nest Mini aren't that good. I would probably instead for the Nest Audio as my first one. I also got a Google Home Max for $179.99 a week or two back matching Home Depot/Canada Computers and it is just phenomenal sound. At $19, I would probably just pay more for the 2nd gen Nest Mini etc. Under $10 and then I'd say buy like 3-4 for your house.

Question...can these Google Minis work on both 110 and 220 v?

I wonder why many products sold by big companies don't have dual voltage power supplies...it comes in handy when traveling instead of getting a voltage converter plug that may not be able to take the heat from the voltage conversion and can be a fire hazzard.

I missed that deal...when did that happen?

What was the deal...as in how was it attainable at $5? Through stores or Google directly? Were there conditions or a catch?

check the wall adapter specification. most should do both 120/240. If not, just use a standard USB phone charger

A few weeks ago, it was $5 for students and $10 for anyone else. It was a Spotify deal (so 1 month of Spotify and a nest mini gen 2 for $5-10)

I never thought of the USB charger thing...most have 110/220v...I agree....but still wouldn't plugging the Google Home Mini ...if it was 110 v power supply inside it only...into a 220v wall socket with that USB 110/w20v Wall charger still FRY it?

Nice...completely missed that deal...but I got the same deal getting the original 1st Gen Home Mini from the previous Spotify $10 membership deal.

What did students have to show to prove they were students to get it for $5? Or did Spotify / Google just take their word for it?
