Is this the cheapest it's ever been? Currently have a GoPro 3 lol so I assume this would be a huge upgrade

Would've been nice if they had it at this price 2 weeks ago... Walmart employees (and their family/spouse) have 20% off (Walmart items) once a month (as thank you for COVID)...

It would've been $280 for me...

Don't buy the 8. It's got a non-replaceable front lens.

As per Amazon's price, it's the lowest at the moment.

I believe this is the cheapest it's been for just the GoPro 8. However, the Amazon bundle (and possibly the Costco one) were recently $380 which made them a slightly better value.

Which one do you recommend? I’m new to GoPro and would love to make Muskie fishing videos on it

Use screen protector and the case

Paid 379 for the bundle on Amazon which I think is worth the extra $30 bucks

I know its in USD but the go pro hero 9 bundle is a lot better for the over additional $120 CDN. They have a bundle on go pro’s website. 349USD + 20 USD shipping for the hero 9, some accessories and 1 year of of their cloud service. I would go that route. I just bought a hero 7 last year so cant justify the upgrade

The case gives you crappy audio, a screen protector is not guaranteed to save your $400 device. You can't repair it, gopro won't repair it. They even went back to the replaceable screen on the 9. If you're actually using the cam for MTN biking, Fishing etc. That screen protector is not going to save your lens when it rips into a rock at 50km. I have a glass protector on my 7 and it broke the lens dropping it on the side of a river bank.

No idea why they made a action cam 100% non repariable.

I bought one of these. It allows you to use any camera filter over it, and the cage protects the device. Even with a 9 I would still get some kind of cage for it because if you take a fall, I don't want to bang it up

Yeah, i bought one of those as well. I just found it too clunky and ended up not using it. Nice thing about Gopro is how small they are, the metal frame made it HUGE.

This one would offer protection and replaceable lens https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-acc ... C-001.html

I accidentally dropped my Hero 7 from 7ft onto hard floor, both the front and back screen protectors cracked, but both actual screens were undamaged. I had the protective housing on it too.

I'm not sure why the GoPro would ever go ripping into a rock at 50km /hr. Even for 'adventure sports' the GoPro shouldn't be taking that kind of impact... And in the rare chance that some extreme impact does happen, you probably have more than just the screen to worry about.
