Saw these at Walmart Supercentre Markham Road and Steeles (Ontario), marked down to $3 from $15. Both mens and women's available. $1 a pair of thick socks seems like a good deal to me. Not sure if the other stores are also marking these down.

Nice deal but anything cotton is anti thermal.

Cotton absorbs moisture not wicks it away. Cotton can give you hypothermia resulting in death. That’s the reason hikers avoid anything cotton.

Only the woman model is a cotton blend.
The other are synthetic thermic wool (Material : 84% Acrylic, 16%Olefin)
