[Walmart] [Koodo] Google Pixel 2 XL 64 GB - $0 on Tab M + $100 GC - New Activations Only - Starts Mar 23

Got a text from an insider friend... deal starts tomorrow Mar 23 at Walmart only. Full details:

  • Google Pixel 2 XL, 64 GB on Koodo
  • $0 on Tab Medium ($360 device balance)
  • $100 Gift Card for New Activations Only
  • $35 Activation Fee (cannot be waived)
  • Deal starts Mar 23 at Walmart only - Bestbuy, WOW, TMS, etc all have separate pricing
  • Promo can be pulled at any time, no guaranteed end date
  • TMS may price match the offer - I believe each chain can see each others' promo pricing from Koodo, YMMV

This deal came up last month (early Feb) for $0 on Tab M without a GC and got 118 upvotes - adding the $100 GC here makes this super hot.

Might jump on this !

For anyone wondering final cost if signup&cancel : ((15*24)+35+1/30*40)*1.15-100= 355$ tx inc.

Thanks op!

Took advantage of the Lunar deal and got this phone with it last month. Basically got the currently on promo $65 6GB plan for $55 with 1000 long distance minutes and a $5 credit for 24 months and no activation fee. Over two years I'll save $15/month off the current retail price which made the phone essentially free.

This deal is decent if you cancel right away though.

I think GC values are clawed back if cancelled within 3 months, and there's no longer "vacation holds" (or whatever the $15 per month thing was called) for new activation.

This will only be good value if you intent to keep the plan (and if the plan itself is good).

Gift cards once issued cannot be clawed back. What is "clawed back" is the commission paid to Walmart for early cancellations.

Wait, how exactly would I cancel? Could I literally cancel after I buy the phone, and call Koodo to cancel it?

No, they can't claw back the GC, but they can certainly claw back the value of the gift card (charge $100 to your Koodo account).

At least that's how I remember it used to work, but haven't done Koodo activations for a while so I could be remembering wrong.

Call in and ask for a hardware upgrade discount. On Black Friday I got a $200 discount on each of my lines, used the 2nd one to get the Pixel 2 XL for $160+ tax. The max they can give is $200, and depends on the agent. Your probably likely to get ~$100 unless your a long time customer (reason rep gave me for the $200 discounts)

They gave me discounts on my lines too and now there’s a note that generates every month on my account that says “potential credit seeker”
Koodo, Fido, Telus, Public Mobile, Virgin customer.
