These things have a horrible plastic smell. I bought the coke polar bear one before and had to return it. I had it in my office and the smell gave me a headache.

We pre chill ours before taking in the truck, it does a pretty good job of it. It's no fridge for sure, but on a road trip they work well. We've had them in hotel rooms many times.
I purchased one a decade ago from Wal mart. It was made by sunbeam at the time. Make sure the unit has good ventilation at the back and it will do its job.
