[Walmart] Mega Construx Large Piece Tub - 1625 Pieces - $ 24.97

Walmart is selling this cheaper than the rest of stores.
It's not a bad deal for those who needs a lot of pieces for their kids.
I picked up two tubs myself.

LEGOs are an engineering masterpiece.

This abomination is no comparison.

I used to think Lego is God. It still is probably the top brand, mega construx is a close second though. Their quality with recent sets is pretty good and they do military themes. They are a Canadian company too, made and designed in Canada.

Lego is good quality but their pricing is atrocious. Also their inability to produce proper military stuff is annoying.

Haven't tried Chinese brand yet. Which one is best? Sluban?

I don't know all the new brands, but you hit on a point.

The reluctance of North American toy makers to explore military themes has exploded over the last 5 to 10 years.

Outside of highly unusual fantasy depictions, real military equipment depictions are generally frowned upon.

It's too bad, I grew up playing with these toys... and I turned out fine....

Are you sure about this? Not arguing, I'm genuinely curious. Would love to support a Canadian company that actually manufactures here.

...but most of what I can find seems to indicate that Mega Brands is a subsidiary of Mattel (USA), with maybe a low profile 'office' in Quebec. Possibly they just let Mattel handle their whole brand/digital presence?

Latest sets I bought indicate on the box "designed in Canada, with Canadian and abroad parts". Probably as close as you can get for Canadian content on construction sets.

Same here. Would love some WWII content.

I hear great things about Cobi. But they are really expensive in NA. Apparently they are a Polish brand that is pretty cheap in Europe.

Are you being sarcastic, or is this a real thing?

Believe it or not, I actually googled it with zero results.

Do not buy the payday sets, the bricks are fine but the the models are so badly built that they are unusable
