Fresh Pork BACK ribs for $2.88 is pretty good deal...for the fair weather smokers, gotta check the weather before you buy.

Yes but I find the cryo'd meat sometimes smells and is a bit slimy when I open the package if it's been sitting.

So it seems. I bought some a few months ago. Smelled a bit when I opened it but it tasted fine when cooked.

I always buy the backribs that Frescho sell, they come vacuum packed in singles (frozen) and they last awhile in the freezer, they're also not as big as the ones Walmart is selling. Much more convenient, I usually cook 1 at a time.

As for the smell, these larger backribs are coming from heavier hogs, anything meat that is vacuumed and has a bone will have a strong odour, look at the expiry date and try and pick one out that has the longest date. If you notice a lot of slimy, watery, bloody, etc. in the package, stay away, its been sitting awhile.
