Moving up to the Core i series 5th generation also includes the updated Intel HD 5500 Integrated HD Graphics which boasts ~18% increase in performance over Intel HD 4400 found in most 4th gen products. A product that provides more power than is required for most office and home users while staying true to sleek, ultra portable, low consumption features of ultrabooks.

2 series i5.....currently in 2020 10 series of i5's are available...the gap is of 8yrs+

Edit: Correction, its 5 series not 2 . It's a fair price for a 5 series.

Thanks for pointing this to me guys

I have the G2 and the G3. Got it cheaper from a local repair shop with 8GB and no SSD. A good enterprise laptop made with solid components.

it's 5th generation.. around 5 or 6 years old.. i guess it is fair.. yes.. this year is 10th series.. but price is couple hundred more at least.. different people needs different things.. this can be an affordable choice for people who doesn't need the latest and greatest.. plus many kids learning from home.. a slightly older machine is not a bad choice

Older CPU is part of the reason the price is much lower than 10th Gen i5 laptops.

I used to manage a fleet of 840G2 at the enterprise level, reliability wise they were decent, as the screens were not touch and are recessed so less likely to break from pressure applied vs Lenovo T450s that replaced them.

The most common issue we had were failing HDD’s which shouldn’t be a problem as these are SSD.

2nd Gen i5 is a little long in the tooth at this point and if you can stretch your budget a bit to say $500 a 7th gen or newer i5 in IPC alone with an nvme will be significantly higher performing.

But like what one of the other posters said, they are built like tanks.

We use these for work... And while the specs are good, I highly recommend more ram if you can.

They can be quite sluggish at times. Other than that, they work quite well with W10.
