One big question, are they GF-6 compatible?

The reason that a lot places have discount engine oil now is because of the newly established standard GF-6 and they are now trying to get rid of the old oils making ways for new products.

If they were old standard oil, the price is not that attractive IMHO.

Now that Walmart has closed their garages in Canada, where do I take my car for a reasonably priced change seeing as Costco is backed up doing tires ?

I’m going to recommend Canadian Tire! No risk of getting massively downvoted here LOL

I would google some independent tireshop through google, still way better than CT.

Picked up 2 jugs of 5W20 at the Bolton location. Still quite a few left, both 5W20 and 5W30.

Are these jugs sealed inside besides the plastic cap?

A little late but yes they are--they have a foil seal under the cap. Sale might be over (?) but at my local WMs the reg. price is seemingly only $2 more anyway--still a great deal.

lol why are people obsessed with GF-6 certification?

GF-6 is backwards compatible with GF-5. If your car calls for GF-5, using GF-6 isn't going to make a difference.

lol absurd that some poster said that "they are clearing out GF-5 stock" to make way for GF-6 as if GF-5 is inferior to a car that calls for GF-5. Much more likely that Walmart will only produce the latest GF-6 standard as the GF-5 standard stock dwindles.

Edit: GF-6A backwards compatible with GF-5. GF-6B not backwards compatible with engines using 0W-16.

GF-6 is better at protecting timing chain and it also evaporate less oil steam during operation, which is NO.1 cause of valve carbon buildup for DI engine, or turbo blade carbon buildup.

Sure lots of old oil actually meets GF-6 specs just not advertising them.

Been using Super-Tech 5W-20 in my 2006 Hyundai Elantra since its third oil change. Now has 139,000 miles on it and it runs like the day it was new. Never going back to dino oil.

Check your local Walmart guys. I went it and still saw the sign at $14.97. I took a pic and Code of Practice it, $6.4 out the door.
