[Walmart] Unlock! games - $14 and $15. In-store only

The following Unlock! games are on sale at Walmart (in-store):

Unlock! is a cooperative card game inspired by escape rooms that uses a simple system which allows you to search scenes, combine objects, and solve riddles. Play Unlock! and embark on great adventures, while seated at a table using only cards and a companion app that can provide clues, check codes, monitor time remaining, etc.

The games are $30-50 at other retailers (e.g. Amazon, Indigo, 401 Games, etc.), so this seems like a pretty good price! I saw them at the Markham Rd & Steeles Ave E Walmart but they appear to be available at other locations as well according to StockTrack.

Good deal OP. I've played most of these games via local board game cafe (this game doesn't involve destruction of cards unlike the Exit games) and they're pretty fun if you're into the escape room vibe

thanks OP!

The Walmart I went to did not have it on the shelf so I asked. They had them all in an isle display box from Unlock.

All the ratings posted by the OP are the inflated ratings without the BGG adjustment.
Real rating are 6.4 - 6.9 still a good rating for this type of game. Anything below a 6 is danger territory.

Kind of a board game noob here, why are those ratings inflated ?

There are 2 ratings on Board Game Geek (BGG)
1. The average rating made by the users.
2. The ratings of users averaged by a dummy value of 0 (or some low number) for about 5000 sales (guessing on 5000). This lowers the rating for games that have not yet sold a lot.

They do this because a game that is new and shiny gets the new and shiny best game ever ratings from early adopters. As sales grow the average buyer weighs in for a more realistic rating.
Other games may rate high but the sales are low because realistically it is not mainstream enough for more people to like enough to enjoy.

The Exit games are rated well but the volume of sales among BGG users is lower so there is a full point drop in the rating. Exit games are not everyone's thing.

I hope that made sense.

I didn't see any when I stopped by around 10PM were they somewhere else other than the board game section of the Toy department? I went to Barrhaven and managed to find Mythic and Mystery (there was one copy of Mythic left iirc).

They were in the clearance section in the middle of the store separate from the board games

They don't destroy the cards like "exit" does. So you can resell or pass along to friends
