Washington DC or Portland Oregon

Anyone ever gone to Washington DC or Portland Oregon? I got job offers there in the mental health service. I am from Toronto. How are either places in comparison to Toronto? Is it just as expensive? More or less crime? Things to do thanks!

I've played tourist in Portland a couple of times. It's by far one of my favourite cites in the western US. The weather is great, that means winters are mild compared to most of Canada.
They have a very cool town centre.
It's less than two hours from the Oregon Coast, which is drop dead beautiful.
There's no sales tax in Oregon.
It's just a matter of time, a lower Cdn. $, before I go back to Portland.

Though I've never been to Washington, there's no comparison between the two cities. They're completely different.

What I know about the two, I would take Portland in a heartbeat.

Didn't you have to go to these places to interview with the company? Anyway, since you're from the east coast, I'd say DC. Unless you want to live really REALLY far away from home.

Been to both. If you're into outdoors activities, then Oregon. Tons of stuff to do there, and also California is right next door... DC is interesting, but wouldn't want to live there.

Not sure how crime compares to Toronto, but Portland has less crime than DC.

Basic stats stuff:

My old hq was in DC, not many who works in the offices in DC actually lives in DC. I'd recommend visiting first. Ton of great museums though!
