Water heater - switch from electic to natural gas worth it?

Hello world!

I recently had an old electric-heated water tank that I rent replaced sue to a slight leaking issue. The technician recommended a switch to natural gas (we have a natural gas furnace that was installed around 2005) due to the cost savings.

I looked into it, and my rental fee will only go up a couple dollars a month and the install is about $115 total. I've been told the switch from electric to natural gas can save 30% on energy costs....but I want to see what others' experience has been.

Has anyone made the switch? If so, was it worth it?

Thanks in advance,

D

Absolutely, I wouldn't hesitate. It's your biggest energy draw after your furnace.

If you can, get out of that water heater rental. It must be an Ontario thing.

Yes, and ditch the rental. That's costing you more than the energy difference you'll see.
