Water Quality Test Kit (DIY)

I'd like to test the tap water for iron content - even though I live in a condo in the city (municipal water supply).

I was wondering if anyone used and recommends a certain brand of test kits out of those available at Canadian Tire, Home Depot, etc. I'm interested mostly in an iron content test, DIY style (I know there are also kits that one can use to collect water samples and send to the lab for testing).

The simplest, free test for iron is to simply pour a glass and leave it to settle. If significant iron is present you will see a red ring of rust around the bottom of your glass.

When we lived in Haldimand Norfolk we had very hard water and a fair amount of rust would settle.
