Does anyone have a recently shucked one so we can see the model of the drive that's inside?

Is there any AMEX refund for BB?
Rebate or refund? If you return the item in re-sellable condition, you can get a refund with any form of payment. I don't think there's a rebate promo right now for Amex on BB. There was late last year.

Sometimes, AMEX give $20 or so statement credit when buy in BB.

Ah. I just missed the 14TB deal from US BB.
It becomes $249.99 USD now.

If I buy something that is not in deep discounted, my father will punish me; everyone will laugh at me. I will be the strange kid who doesn't fit in.

would also like to know. i've been eyeing 8tb internal cmr drives but they're not as good a $/tb ratio as this one.

Most 8TB are smr. It is better to get anything more than 8TB to shuck.
I get daily warning for the 8TB drive from the NAS about slow I/O.

I thought 8TB and up were not guaranteed, but good chance to be CMR for WD and 10TB and up for Seagate? I bought a few 8TB Mybooks from Costco and they were indeed CMRs (WD80EDBZ)

This is from a BB customer review (2019) and it mentions the model of the drive.
Quoted:
"If you’re wanting a huge drive at a budget price to shuck and use in a NAS, this is it chief. For folks that are looking for specific model info about the drives inside, both contained a 12tb WD120EMFZ. Bought 2 of these for $179 each and shucked them (removed the drive from the casing) right away. I set them up in a NAS using RAID 1 (mirrored) because they are budget drives that aren’t designed to run 24/7"

Yeah. I was in the market for a large drive to shuck back in 2019 and watching prices closely. In the end I got the 8TB one from best buy during one of BB's end of the year sales (black friday/cyber monday or something) for around that price. No chance 12TB was $179
