I put it in HISA. When answering the questions I chose the super conservative ones.

It actually just has to be funded with 1000 within 60 days.

But on which day did you withdraw your 1000? Could I withdraw on the 4th day and still receive the $50 promo?

Wealthbar is owned by CI Financial so as a note you're "buying" Canadian on this one.

Wtf, yeah same. And I pulled yesterday, before I got confirmation with GCR - my reasoning being that the requirements were to just fund the account within 60 days, which I completed.

How can Wealthbar get away with holding my cash for 30 days though, this is not some sort of legal requirement? Seems to be much too long. Wealthsimple and RBC Direct Investing is max 5 days...

I did this back in March so on an average day I'm up 2% plus the bonus. Stocks were up yesterday and futures are green today, stores are opening again, I think the next 30 days might be fine. But I'm not giving investment advice.

I took advantage of this offer when GCR was offering $70 for depositing $1000. Deposited $1001 to ensure the bonus (a 7% headstart). From March 9 to now the account has seen a total gain of 2.1% ($21), although it was at a loss for many days I checked. I chose balanced portfolio with them. It is simple enough and the no fee for a year is great, but if you have some stock picking know-how, there are way better gains to be had on your own.

Data Points:

May 7 - opened up account and transferred $1k
May 21 - got email from GCR about $50 rebate (post date of May 21)

Since the rebate was Posted Into Account in May, the Cash Back Rebate Day Date is July 28.
So I'll wait till I get that, then close the WealthBar account on Aug 1.
