wedding cakes!

hey everyone,
just wondering if anyone can recommend a good place to look for a wedding cake? not looking for anything fancy and expensive - just something simple but still looks and tastes good.

your help is appreciated!

+1. I work at major wedding shows and I love sampling Just Temptations' cakes. It's soooo divine and delicious!

Try out Irresistible Cakes Inc. Their cakes are amazing too! website: http://www.icakes.ca/

If you want more choices, check out: http://theperfectweddingguide.com/index.html They have some good choices as well. Hope that helps :)

enough said, the maker has been featured on TV.. I think she was on Breakfast tv not long ago... most beautiful wedding cakes.
We're getting our cake from I Do! Wedding Cakes. We stumbled upon them at the Bridal Show in Jan and we got 25% off for booking with them at the show. The cake sampling was yumm-mers!

We're getting our cake from Flour Confections:

http://www.flourconfections.ca/index.html

My sister had a cake done by Lisa for her wedding and it was amazing. My sis froze the top tier and broke it out a year later for her first anniversary and it was still awesome.

It was chocolate and banana cake layers iced with butter cream ('cause fondant sucks) a hand made Celtic band and topped with chocolate dipped strawberries. I thought it was simple and classy.

For a wedding cake that one is pretty boring. I could probably do it myself if I wanted to put in the time.

We got ours done by a nice lady named Shanti.

Our cake was amazing and everyone was commenting about it how nice it looked and how great it tasted.

Her website is:
http://cakesbydesignshanti.com/default.htm

She has tons of pictures of what she is able to do.

Here's what ours looked liked (nothing was generic about our cake, we were very picky on what we wanted and she was able to deliver), the flash from the camera doesn't do it any justice:

Wow...that's a beautiful cake. I'm actually doing some future planning for my wedding, may I know how much this cake cost? I just need an estimate for Canadian pricing on wedding cakes :)

For my hubby who loves anything to do with smurf, we did a smurf cake for our wedding.

Here's a picture and it was very unique and we received a lot of compliments on the cake.

Smurf Cake Sorry I don't know how to put the image up in here.

We got the cake from Shirley's Sweet Creations.

If you look at her site, a cake that feeds 75 people starts at $450. I'm assuming a bigger cake or something with more detail would add to the price.

I have a tasting with Lisa at Flour Confections at the end of April, I'll report back with pics and reviews of the flavours we try.

thank you. We sent the design to Shirley and she did an amazing job executing the design. We did order the special bride and groom smurf figurines from online for the wedding to complete the look.
