Is this weed?

Hey all,

I plucked this from the lawn this morning and it seems to be growing a lot more in abundance lately. As a kid I always thought these were grass seeds :o but now that I have my own garden, I want to make sure before I take action on it.

That's a grass "flower" - the top contains grass seeds, they're pollinating at this time of year.

Thanks coolspot - should I make use of them or should I just continue mowing the lawn and treat it like regular grass?

Just leave them as is - if you don't look how they look, mow the lawn :)
