Thanks op, food (as pretty much everything else) is about to get even more expensive, so proper planning is a mus in the next few years

Exactly, focusing on staples that are on sale (when possible) can easily reduce the bill by 50%. It also ''rotates'' your macro and micronutrients as there is something different on sale every week. The easiest example is protein/meat - I'll choose the 2 sources that are on sale and Its almost a certainty that 2 other sources are on sale the following week and so on. I'll also buy more if the price is right to freeze. It never gets boring and this allow the kids to eat something different on a regular basis. Proper planning will reduce waste AND resist the urge to eat out/take out. I understand that supporting your local restaurants is important but your wallet comes first.
