[WestJet] Westjet Canadian cities to Paris summer flights $550-$690 RT

Westjet flights roundtrip Toronto YYZ to CDG are on sale from $550-$690 roundtrip. Check google flights for prices. https://www.google.ca/flights/
I didn't see any open jaw tickets at the same price, but depending on your itinerary you may want to try.
These are on Econo fares so $25 baggage fee applies, plus seat selection fee if you want to reserve your seat.

These flights are normally $1000+ and it's rare to see summer dates at these prices.

Fly from many Canadian cities to Paris, France from only $516 CAD roundtrip.
Or fly during the summer from $539 CAD roundtrip.

Depart from:
Toronto: $516 (summer for $568)
Ottawa: $516 (summer for $539)
Montreal: $542
Vancouver: $566 (summer for $616)
Edmonton: $668
Calgary: $698

DEPART:
Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal/Vancouver/Edmonton/Calgary, Canada

ARRIVE:
Paris, France

RETURN:
Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal/Vancouver/Edmonton/Calgary, Canada

DATES:
Availability from June to October 2018

Smoking hot! Europe in summer with a decent airline/itinerary hardly ever goes much below $1000 and the deals usually exclude July and August so this is fantastic, even when you factor in seat selection fees etc. I've been watching prices for 2-3 months and just grabbed my nine seats for August! It doesn't get any cheaper than this.

Could this be the beginning of some actual competition in the market, or is it just a loss leader?

Most of the flights I'm seeing from YVR are 2 stops... YYZ or YUL, then YHZ making it around 16-20 hours.

I think I'd rather wait for a different sale , fly 1 stop for ~700/800 if I have to.

Can't speak to west coast trips but Ottawa to Paris via Halifax (which is in the right direction) is a 10h trip. All good.

if you want 700/800, keep waiting. Maybe try Transat and don't bring any bags. Enjoy that!

From Westjet's website:
For Paris travel on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May 31 to October 27, 2018.
For London (Gatwick) travel on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May 31 to October 27, 2018.

Blackout dates: For Paris and London (Gatwick) from June 28 to September 3, 2018.
Also, is the Halifax connection a re-fuelling stop or change of planes?

Change of planes, their new Boeing 737-8 MAX

All flights will be operated on the airline's newest, most efficient and guest-friendly aircraft, the Boeing 737-8 MAX. One-way intro fares from Halifax to Paris or London are available now for just $199 all in.

No bags, No food, Cramped in a 737, with a stopover in Halifax. No thank you, couldn't pay me to take this flight. Wait for AirTransat Seat Sale closer to summer. This might appeal to someone who doesn't value their time.

Nice. We did this as well although substitute Greece to Spain.

Anyway, I've always booked my summer EU trips w/ Transat. Ranges from 6-800 and I've been May - July. I'd rather take a direct flight to EU. A connection is too much for a 6-8hr flight.

Each to their own I guess. I don’t want bag fees included in the price for my kids and we don’t enjoy paying for or eating airline food. Clearly you do, enjoy.

Meh..pay a couple hundred more on a real airline with flying a widebody without unnecessary stops on a 737

I paid 850 to fly on LH during summer to BCN and Rome open jaw

Why would anyone want to torture themselves on a WestJet 737 across the Atlantic with stopover in Halifax to save a hundred bucks or so is crazy

Paid around 700ish two years ago for a direct flight to paris on air transat in the middle of June. Screw Westjet, no food, no inflight entertainment, very cramped seats. It tries to showcase itself as a discount airline yet charges bullshit premium prices as a regular airline. No thanks!

If from Toronto, way better off flying air Transat or air France for summer to CDG...

Only $700 on Transat with direct flight and widebody jet and bag or pay $800 on real airline with air France or air Canada

Absurd prices for ws to charge nearly$700 to fly to CDG with stopover in Halifax on a 737 and no bags
