Just found out serendipitously about GetJar today. I wish I knew about this as I have spent about $30 now for paid apps.

Are you getting a kickback or has some advertising bot hijacked your account? Just curious.

The answer would be NO to both. Has a jackass hijacked your account? Just asking out of curiosity too. :)

i don't think he is a jackass for asking since you have really gone through a lot of trouble with detailing this site and i was thinking the same thing... it is nice to like something so much to do a great review but it comes with questions so you shouldn't be surprised.
thanks for the info.

you know it comes out to being the same thing. I'd just say sorry and move on and let the conversation be about the topic and not the jibes back and forth.

Point taken. Put the two on ignore. Love your signature -- I am not sure if I was being long winded or just used poor grammar.

pirated apps discussion on RFD is a bold move
This is not piracy, it's a legitimate channel for developers to showcase their apps. I'm no developer and I'm not advertising on behalf of the company. I just took the time to read what the articles were all about and did not jump to any conclusions.

I don't think you even read the OP and the 2nd post. :)

Good to know there's the bad side of that. The GetJar app is in Google Play. Would Google allow it to remain there if it known for piracy? The piracy method you bring up is likely no different from the apk method.

EDIT:
I just got the Dictionary.com ad-free app for free using up 70 gold rewards. Got 75 gold rewards for downloading games I may not ever play. These games are rated high though. Glad I have a permissions management app.

^ that is the one thing i like about the windows app store. They let you try out the app for about a week and if you like it then you can buy it or simply uninstall

The three posted by Macro6 are not from within google play for sure as I'm aware of two out of the three.

Good point. Just make sure you got some antivirus running. If we can viruses within Google Play, what more outside it.

Someone mentioned it was one day for Android apps before. For apps I can see a one week trial period but for games, the purchaser could have finished playing by then. :)

No, but I do get rewarded (mentally and spiritually) for putting you (what Wilsonlam calls a D**K, whatever that is ???), on my ignore list. :)

Not bothering to respond to any more stupid allegations that I'm profiting from this post. I'll just keep adding you to my ignore list.

Actually discovered a few gems -- Ultimate Rotation Control, unlocked for 100-200 gold rewards, SymbolssKeyboard & TextArt Lite unlocked for 100 or so, Dictionary.com Gold for 70 gold rewards. Found out about Canada Nespapers app which could be useful.

A nice trick to earn 10 gold rewards easily is to search for apps (especially preinstalled Google apps by typing google in the search field) within GetJar you already have on your phone and to "download" it and then open it once you are brought to Google Play. :)

=====
Emailed GetJar today:
Good morning. Hoping all is well. I noticed that there are two types of app that I can unlock with GetJar rewards.

1st
Apps that can be installed and come unlocked on all devices associated with the GetJar/Google Play Account:
Dictionary.com Gold
TuneWiki Pro

2nd
but there are others where I have to buy a separate license (through Google Play) or using up more GetJar rewards for each phone:
Symbols Key
Ultimate Rotation Control

Is this something your team is aware of? I was thinking along the line that the 1st category would be more appropriate but of course you and your developer partners will know better.

Thanks for your time and attention.

And the prompt response was:

Thank you for the e-mail. As you said, Getjar provides a way for developers to do licenses, like what you see in Dictionary.com Gold, but the developers need to elect to use it. This was a capability we added late last year and not all developers have fully taken advantage of it yet.

There are cases where using this capability doesn’t make sense however. For example, games could sell health packs so once consumed they could buy more.

We have been working with developers to help them figure out which way makes sense. All of our App of the Day apps, which is a new program from us, will use licensing so will carry to your other devices just fine.

I hope this provides a bit more detail and again, we thank you for taking the time to e-mail us!!
