Which chemical in water are you concerned about that require filtration?

I've made a few posts on the topic before use any popular filter, for a cheaper option Pur is my preferred takes out more things than brita, for something more expensive you could get a bigger filtration system at your sink, avoid a whole home system. Spring water is great but the pollution caused by plastic bottles is too much to look away from.

Pollution caused by plastic bottles? Costco sells a brand that is dealing with the problem. "bottles made from bottles": https://icerivergreenbottleco.com/
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I'm sorry but your post is beyond silly if you're trying to make the argument that plastics aren't a serious environmental problem.

I'm saying that at least one company is trying. The point you just made is very silly. It's like, why bother trying at all? You'll just spew the same message anyway.

The problem with spring water is that it is not regulated, some spring water is not any better than what comes out of your Mississauga tap.

I went with a reverse osmosis system with a mineral cartridge. Average cost would be $400 for a system, and maybe $200 annual cartridge replacement. You could also install it yourself. It's pretty easy.

Or you can buy reverse osmosis water by the 5 gallon jug and use it in a water cooler. We did that before we installed our own system. The water store we went to in Mississauga is at Eglinton and Confederation. We bought the remineralized reverse osmosis water and I think it was $4.50 for the 5 gallon. It was probably the best tasting reverse osmosis water we ever had. It tasted better than our own reverse osmosis and better than the water store we went to in Milton and the one here in Windsor.

It's funny because you call other people trolls when it's quite obvious that is what you are by your posts. If you're trying to say one company is doing something about it why not open your post with that instead of "pollution caused by plastic bottles?" That sentence shows you're saying there is no issue because one small company uses some recycled plastic. All you do is search the internet to try and prove people wrong but more often than not (99% from the posts I've seen) you make yourself look silly in the process. Have a good day.

I believe city water is safe to drink, what's questionable is the pipes running underneath and surrounding areas leading to the faucet. The only way to clean those pipes is to use chemicals and as much as one can argue that it's relatively safe I still question it. Spring water is as pure as it gets, I go out of my way and subscribe to a monthly allowance of 3x19L jugs of water from a company called Cedar Springs. They deliver the water and give me a water cooler for free (rental). Only time I use tap water is to boil it for pasta.

For anyone wondering I pay $30/month, when and if we run out of water I just head to my nearest Walmart and pick up extra jugs for $5. $30 isn't going to break the bank, I'm done paying both my cars so who cares, lol/

I didn't search the internet for that at all. I'm a Costco member, so I am aware of an option. I'm not proving anyone wrong. I'm proving that there is an option and a choice when buying bottles.
Giving credit where credit is due, at least doing something about "the bottle problem" started somewhere.

The store is called
Canadian Pure Filtered Water
4646 Heritage Hills Blvd unit #1, Mississauga, ON L5R 1Y3

It's a water store, so they have these huge reverse osmosis systems and you bring in your own 5 gallon jugs to wash and fill.
They have regular reverse osmosis water, as well as remineralized and alkalined water.

This is where we use to go when we lived in Mississauga. When we moved to Milton, we used a different water store and they didn't have the remineralized water, so we eventually installed our own reverse osmosis system.
This one from Amazon iSpring

Now we live in Windsor, and use the local water store here. We didn't install a RO system because there really isn't a good place for it. My husband goes to the water store when we have 4 empty jugs, we go through one every 10 days. It's just us two. We use it for drinking, coffee, tea. For storing the jugs, we have this rack Bottle Storage

You can contact your local health unit and they will test your water at the tap. Then you will know your pipes are safe. Your water cooler contains more bacteria than your pipes.

I'm more concerned about the chemical used to treat the water for consumption rather than the bacteria in my water cooler. Bacteria and chemicals aren't the best comparisons.

So because Lake Ontario is the only source for drinking water here's why I avoid it. People dump all sorts of waste into our lakes and I can't even begin to imagine where to start from, anywhere from HIV infected blood, feces, infected rotten animal body parts. Even household cleaning products that are extremely toxic all end up in our lakes. Now consider the fact that you will probably need something much stronger than all of that combined to clean and filter it to make it pure... Just the thought of what goes into the treatment makes me sick to my stomach.
