Thoughts on adding canadian banks? Anyone hold a variety or just stick with one? I currently have TD but wondering if it makes sense to add another to the portfolio?

I have all 5 major banks. I am so overweight in banks, I need to spread the risk as much as I can.

Each Canadian bank is a little different so it depends on why you feel like adding another one? You can also add one of the many bank ETFs if you want to diversify easily OR one of the specialty bank ETFs like HCAL for a bit of spiciness.

Anyone currently holding bpy.u looking to sell today as the price is higher than the offer at $18.17
Also I bought bpy.un. Is there a way I can sell my shares as bpy.u to get USD?

I am using WS trade so I had no issue spreading my bank exposure out to multiple banks and insurance. I figured why not?

There’s also RBNK which rebalances based on div yields. Just something to consider - mer=0.32%

That is a lot better than 0.6% MER for nothing. ETFs are a good option for diversifying a smaller positions. For myself, I don't care that much about rebalancing on yield. The shares that I have bought, I intend to hold for the long haul. That said, I wonder if all the jockeying around will earn back 0.32% yield on an ongoing basis.PaddyM77101 wrote: ↑ There’s also RBNK which rebalances based on div yields. Well, she agreed. She is 15 and would like to put $400 towards ATZ. Question is, can she? I guess I’d have to do it for her. Has anyone else invested for a youth?

Here's an older thread (from 2013) about the subject - https://www.canadianmoneyforum.com/thre ... ons.15390/. There might be a few modifications since then but at least it's something.

I appreciate that. Thank you for putting this idea forward. Part of her inheritance from Grandma. Proud of her. I’ll have a read.craftsman wrote: ↑ Wow! That's good progress.
