What are Dimmies?

Been watching Mr Inbetween, and the character "Ray" would order "dimmies" to eat every so often, sometimes at a little food stand and sometimes at restaurants.

What are these "dimmies"?

The show is Australian, so I'm guessing it's some Australian thing.

Are there people here who have actually had them, that can comment? Is it as popular has it is portrayed in the show? Is it as delicious as it sounds?

Those look good. Wonder why it hasn't caught on here? I guess too many dumpling like things taking up marketshare.
