How exactly did the government hurt your friend? Did the government tell them to pay a stupid amount for a house a couple months ago and promise him it will always go up in value forever?

Families who bought for the long term and didn't over leverage and who were not speculating have nothing to worry about.

Regardless of what the government did, you can't assume RE goes up in a straight line forever. Someone who assumes that and borrows to the max with no contingency is hardly innocent.

is the prices coming down? I thought they are still going to the moon and show no sigh of slowing down.

OP, as someone who bought in March, your post makes no sense to me.
It's true that I bought high if you compare to now but I also sold for high.

Your comment only makes sense if you bought full cash a second property and decide to sell today.

I feel sorry for those buyers who clearly overpaid. Now the market has softened, and much more inventory.

True. It's still not known what the effect on prices will be. If prices fall, is the government actually to blame?

Unfortunately any market has the potential to go up or down and we assume those risks either way. Purchasing real estate is no different.

No no no no no. He bought a new house in March. He sold his old house in May. Do you think he's happy about that?
