Good luck getting in Canada as I believe they no longer sell to Canada. I have 6 vizios myself and think its a great brand.

So Costco Canada dropped the brand? There was one deal posted in June but it was for a 2020 model.

I may pick up one in the US when it goes on sale.

Haven't checked slickdeals out for so long.

The surprising part is that I had never even heard of Vizio till about maybe 2-3 years (?) ago when I noticed people here on rfd discussing the Costco Vizio deals. Talk about living under a rock! But all my life I have been the Sony TV fanboy. I’m sure there must be other TV brands equally good or maybe even better than Sony but they don’t even remotely interest me. I steadfastly refuse to put a TV anywhere else in the house except the family room so I don’t even have the opportunity to try another brand as a second TV.

Sorry OP, got a bit digressed from the topic Winking Face

Are the Vizio firmwares any better now? Cuz they absolutely sucked when they first became available in Canada several years ago. Plus the QA of the panels was suspect. There was a LOT of variability, much more so than say Sony.

I wonder if the return rates were significantly different.

OLED uses VA or IPS panels? I didn't know.

Are you single? :)

My wife dissuaded me from watching The Boys when our 6 y.o. is awake and near or in the family room.

Vizio pulled out of Canada so nobody is selling them in Canada anymore except for anything they have left in stock.

? I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but OLED TVs use OLED panels of course.

I was just saying that companies like Sony had stricter requirements for the panels that go into their TVs. With Vizio, at least initially, it seemed there was very high variability in the quality of the panels they used, and more problems in their firmwares too.

Thanks for clarifying. I only read briefly topics on IPS or VA panels on LCDs but since you brought them up, I might as well ask whether that comment applies to OLED.

OLED panels seems to all come from LG anyway so they will save the best for their TV. I just read a thread on the 2021 OLEDs on slickdeals.

LG has the necessary patents for OLED :)

Nope! I suppose it’s just the way I’ve been brought up. No TVs blasting in the sleeping areas or in fact in the dinning area. I think I inherited these traits from my dad...lol.

I was just thinking after my earlier reply that watching something on the smartphone or tablet is like having a portable TV anywhere around the house.

Do those devices stay in your family room too?

Vizio is great, their 2018s were a fan favorite. Their reliability was mediocre at the same, but has since improved noticeably.

Had their QA issues not been what they were, they might've stayed in Canada, but I suspect the high volume of defect returns proved an issue for resellers.

They're managing reasonably well in the US market by comparison, although whether that will remain, is an open question.
I aim to be inclusive and considerate of others in my posts. If I fall short of that mark, feel free to let me know in good faith, and where appropriate, I'll edit my posts. Thank you.

Vizio 4k OLED makes no sense because they are not priced much lower than LG, which is superior is just about every ways due to better firmware.

The current OLED still does not work with HDMI 2.1 with 4k120hz properly, with no fix in sight. While LG is pushing new firmware nearly monthly to fix bugs since release.

It just isn't worth it to save only maybe 10% of the cost for a buggy experience.

If you are only using it to watch TV and nothing else, it will do, but if you use it for gaming, hook up to PC/PS5/etc. You best stick with LG.

vizio sucks for firmware support. They deny their firmware has any bugs, by doing that they by definition wont fix anything. Been that way for years now, yet a lot of you ,keep rewarding this crappy company by buying more of their products.

I went from Vizio P55-F1 to Vizio P659-G1 to Sony XBR65900H

The picture was pretty good on the Vizios, but software was terrible.
