What Happened To Tigerdirect.ca?

Another retailer goes belly-up. Anyone know what happened? It seems to me their inventory was kinda dated and their prices were no deal at all.

This happened.
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

I remember going to the Tigerdirect store in Markham back in mid 2000s... was a very unpleasant experience everytime. The moment you entered the store, sale associates (who earned commission) would tail you...

The final straw for me came in 2012/2013 when I went to get a cheap 1080P 43" Seiki TV (was on sale. for $399 at the time with $70 rebate). The whole time I've told the associate no, I'm not interested in extended warranty, this is just a budget TV for the guest room... and I've said no multiple times... and then even when I was waiting in line, I've had other associates ask if anyone helped or was helping me AND that I SHOULD get extended warranty for a "budget TV with limited long term reliability".

Needless to say I left the TV in the line and walked out the store, just NOPE. Horrific experience.

Their rebates were an exercise in scam-scum. I got a good portion of mine but it wasn't worth the effort. Scummy company.

Really no intelligent answers.

The export of technology from the USA has been restricted because of long term copyright infringement across the board. The USA side of tiger direct hasn't gone anywhere. Lots of computer related businesses lost their game recently

Their mailing rebates were a total scam. I usually dealt with CC or NCIX.

When I first came to Canada they were just like the us store. Some great deals online, and a lot more seems like great deals but are not. Retail outlets not so good. Rarely would you find as good of a deal as online. But sometimes it was better than Future Shop.

The online quality of deals went down as they tried to drive business to the retail outlets where they sold only the more expensive deals. But the customer experience at the retail stores went down. Competitions opened up like ncix. So the Tigerdirect retail stores no longer had enough business and closed down.

But the quality of the deals and the stock for the online deals did remained low. I used to order from Tigerdirect frequently, but by then it wasn't even worth my time to check the listings. Consumers had learned the rebates were a non-offer, and it looked like they were still trying to clear the same stock at the same prices as ten years ago.

I am surprised they lasted longer than ncix.

Just realized that TD is no longer in Canada. First NCIX went belly-up and now Tiger Direct.
I guess we are only left with Mike's Computershop.
Are there any other PC shops online or retail in GTA?
