What should I be looking for in terms of 4K Blu-Ray player sales?

I have to procure a new Blu-Ray player for a 4K HDR TV.

I understand that there are Boxing Day sales coming up, but I'm unsure where to look.

Is this (Boxing Day) the best time to look for deals, or is there some other time of year where they are cheaper?

I would wait till they come down in price to at least $100. 4K Blu-Ray players is one of the gadgets that will not catch on with consumers when in fact the standard Blu-Ray players have not even catched on yet for over decade to replace the upconverting DVD player. Your 4K TV will upconvert whatever media you put on your old 1080p Blu-Ray player.
