What Size Monitor Will Fit?

Looking to add another monitor but not sure what size will fit. Definitely won’t be needing another 34”. Or do you guys suggest that?

Here’s my table and existing monitor setup. 24-27” will fit?

Get a 24" and put it to one side in portrait mode for reading documents and the like.

What ever size you want, you could always wall mount it too.

You think a 24" will fit? I do have to shift the 34" to the left or right then. Is it okay if one is bigger than the other? I always figured dual monitor setups should be the same size.

Also I guess portrait mode could work, but I work with a lot of the following:

1) Report writing
2) Log analysis
3) VMs including Malware Analysis
4) Scripting
5) Forensics Analysis.

Kind of avoiding wall mounting. I guess maybe investing in a good table mount/arm.

Looks odd to me purely in terms of aesthetics.... most do unless the monitors are duplicates or carefully matched. Anything that's a standard "widescreen" is gonna look strange IMO beside an ultra-wide screen. What about tracking down a "retro" 5:4 or 4:3 monitor, maybe a refurb 20" Dell 2007FP 1600x1200 (some are PVA and some are IPS depending on the revision)? Some companies might even sell new non-widescreen models... I think Asus has a decent one, maybe this guy?

19" 1280x1024 IPS. Not as good as the classic Dell but new.

What about selling your weird curved monitor and getting a good quality 32" 4K monitor?

Those prime cable monitor mounts are great, I have one and I regret not getting another one when they were on sale.

I was considering this an option. I have to find the right VESA desk mount for my Dell 34" monitor, mainly due to the weight. I think the one from Dell actually can support this. Or as in the pic, I can shift the monitor to the right and then mount one arm to the left and have the swivel function. I should have gotten a larger desk at the time. I got this back in 2016/2017 haha. I'll take a look at the link. Thx.

Lovely. Glad to see that these have good reliability and reputation.

Err what latest threads? The noob questions? Lol. If so, I hope not. Or are you referring to the cyber security content I post?

In any case, I am in Incident response/Breach response. We deal with a lot of cases and focus on other things besides IR/BR. Malware Analysis, scripting, DFIR, report writing, etc. I ended up in the role last year July after taking a program at York. Originally a former CPA.

A 17 inch monitor will definitely fit.

Or get a monitor arm, plus another 34 inch monitor and stack them.

Twin monitors so when calibrated to match each other everything appears the same on screen regardless of where it's displayed. Plus, replacing current desk with a wider desk and cable management. Tower can go under wider desk. You could have more space then for a tablet (nice for browsing manuals), books and documents either side of the keyboard [not sure whether you are left of right handed].

17...yep...definitely 17...

Might want to aim for 14 just to be sure.

(i.e. Either go big, or go small)
