what is this white-ish liquid in my car tire

Hi folks.

prepared for a change over to the summer tires, took them out for a quick visual inspection, then discovered one of the tires has white-ish liquid inside as attached picture shown. Do you guys know what is it? is it just some lubricant left by mechanics? Or something wrong is with this tire? Can I just wash it away and install it to my car? Thanks for your help.

Did you wash the tires before storing them?

No I did not. it was put in a tire bag by mechanic after swapping to winter tires. I did not inspect it at that time and just stored in my garage throughout the winter.

Maybe tire was wet when you stored it and that water is a runoff of some salt and water.

It's possible the tire tech spilled a bunch of mounting lube in there while they were swapping all of the tires over.

Does it feel viscous, like dish soap? Or thin, like the melted snow/ice + road salt combo mentioned above. A wet tire fresh off the road could've been stacked on top of it and dripping.

I already wiped it off with cloth. yes, it feels a bit viscous like dish soap.
If anyone here who works in car maintenace shop, do you commonly use lubricant like this for installing tires on rims?

Yes, it's pretty much mandatory. Not using it can make the install much more difficult, or even damage the tire. Installing a tire requires literally stretching it over the wheel.

This is a popular one, but there are lots of others.

Thank you very much. You've helped relief my worry.
