What is your opinion of Carly Rae Jepsen?

It's sort of sad how Carly Rae Jepsen isn't getting much support at home in Canada or the US. She works hard, writes her own songs, wrote 250 songs for her latest album.

"Emotion" which came out in 2015 was extremely popular with critics. If you search "best pop albums of 2015", her album comes up in the Top 10 with a lot of reviewers. And when search "snubs of Grammys 2016", her name is thrown out there too. Her music barely got any airplay and no one bought her music.

So what do you guys think of her? Hate her music? Didn't know she even had new music out? Do people hate her because she was a Canadian Idol? lol

The only country where's shes commercially successful right now is Japan, where she was the number one selling non-Japanese artist last year.

Could care less for her music, I wouldnt know if I heard it on the radio. But she is almost 31, trying to be a teenager in looks and music to keep that fan base.

Saw her in concert this year; she was opening for Hedley. Sadly most of the audience hadn't shown up yet and there wasn't a lot of interest in her performance. Even "Call Me Maybe" didn't get the reaction that some of the Hedley songs did. Then again she was an opening act so most of the audience was there to see Hedley.

I should've went to her earlier tour at smaller venues in the US.

Emotion is a great album, maybe even better than 1989.

I think she gets tons of support, just not a lot of mainstream support.

Look at the type of music festival she performs at

you mean currently or of all time? because katy perry is just another commercialzied, cheesy, dime a dozen pop singer. madonna is the queen of pop.

i think she'd do great if she went less commercial pop and more into indie. smaller venues suit her better. you don't need to be mainstream to be successful

I haven't listened to whole lot of madonna so my opinion might be tad biased. Katy perry might be manufactured but by god her songs can be fun to listen to

She just released a second album today, which is scraps that weren't good enough to release on her first.

As a fan of 80s music, Im in looooove with it.

She didn't even have a proper album and released some scraps from her old album in 2016.

She is ranked #6 best pop album of 2016. Just behind Britney Spears and ahead of Lady Gaga. Yet no one knows about her music.
