When buying a used car off Kijiji or somewhereels

Do we really have to tell the exact price when buying a used car at the time of transfer for the tax purposes..................

not if you buy off kijiji. you can put the wholesale price which is the lowest you can go.

But at a private dealer you have no choice since you are paying the taxes straight to the dealer.

You get the wholesale value on the UVIP that you have to purchase for the car before you can register it. It is $20 and you can get it with the VIN of the car at service ontario. Like others have said, the wholesale value is the lowest that can be listed on the bill of sale. The centre takes the highest value between the wholesale value and the bill of sale for tax purposes. This can be bypassed as others have said if you get an appraisal.

if the car is past a certain age you may be required to get an appraisal, my son had to get his 86 rx-7 appraised before he could register it.

If you're a pathetic human being that likes to rob, you can certainly put any price, which is something 99% of the people do. If you have any morals left, put the actual price.

It could back fire on you if you have full coverage on insurance. The insurance company will go by the value of the car you registered.

Then vote against it. It's not a third world country where you rob if you feel wronged. FWIW, I also find the tax egregious.

Why don't you put your money where your 'egregious' mouth is and upload your redacted NOA.

Let's see how upstanding you really are. Lol

Definitely not and for used vehicles, depreciation is taken into consideration if they have to write it off.
