Where to buy gold chains?

I went to some local jewellers and the markups seem quite insane for 14k solid gold chains. Not to mention it's even worse at the mall jewellery stores (like people or michaehill).

https://canadagold.ca/todays-gold-prices-in-canada/ shows 14k premium $69.83/g (based on today's gold price at $3950/oz).

Local jewellers are quoting $125+/g for 14k chains.

Is it just what it is?

i would suggest to stay out of malls, unless its like the old jewelry mall on yonge st.

buy from a local long established store in a plaza or storefront, they will usually be on the competitive side of price, especially for standard stuff

Most of the fine jewellery & watches we’ve bought in the last 20 years
Has been got in the USA
Where the chain jewellery stores and dept stores
Regularly have deep discount sales
Of 50% to 75% Off

Stuff goes on sale that never does here (18 Kt Gold - Designer Items etc).
I have bought things at 50% off, that works out to about 1/3 of the final cost it would be in Canada ($ 1000 US on sale for $ 500 US = $ 720 Cdn, but back home more like $ 2300 Cdn, and the item rarely goes on sale, and then for what … 10% to 20%).

We esp like watching for the Macy’s Days Sales
As a lot of them correspond with major holidays …
When we might be in the US on vacation

I pity the fool who wears gold chains in 2025 Canada!
You're not in Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal right? Lot of jewelry thefts in Toronto.

I remember going into Scarborough for laser tag a long time ago as a teen and my friends were hiding their Gold Crosses and David Stars on the TTC lol. They were richer kids, I grew up in a not so rich place and just learned not to wear expensive shit outside or you'll get jumped.

Jewelry cost isn't just the material cost, but labour too. It's generally going to be a rip off =/.

Wow, gold is $4120 CAD right now according to that site, wild...20% of my portfolio is in gold shares/ETFs.
