-DIM SUM place at the food court at Market Village (kennedy and steeles)
-near back entrance door/in the corner of big food court
-right across the place that sells crepes and bubble tea
-it is in an isolated spot in the corner
-good steamed dumplings, fried shrimp dumpling

Or, as we do, stock up on dim sum from the specialty places that make the good stuff and freeze it (much better than grocery store quality).

Yes- some of their dishes are not so good. Example: their "chang fun" (steamed white rice flour crepes) are so-so.

but their steamed dumplings and deep fried shrimp dumpling tastes as good as a regular dim sum restaurant.

Note: if you order deep fried shrimp dumpling, they put mayonnaise in the take-out container. so if you don't want mayonnaise- you have to tell them.

where do you buy your dim sum??

T&T Supermarket has dim sum all day and night. Their fried stuff tastes alright but they are usually cold so you have to heat it up at home. Their steamed dim sum is warm but tastes average-mediocre.

T&T Supermarket:
warden and steeles
middlefield and steeles

I agree with you on the dumplings. Their bean curd rolls are also good.

Sorry, can't think of the name of the place off the top of my head (as it's usually my mom who goes), but it's a small place on Silver Star Blvd in Scarborough. I think other people on here have mentioned the place I'm talking about.

Royal Teahouse - Dim Sum Specialist
10 Applecreek Blvd., Building B, Unit 3,
Markham, ON
Tel: 905-946-1898

[QUOTE]review pics: http://www.carbonxiv.com/

About 1 month ago, I went to Wendy's (the one on Woodbine, north of Hwy 7) during lunch time. Across the street, I saw a new plaza with one of the restaurants called Royal Teahouse. Last Friday, me and 3 of my colleagues decided to pay a visit to this "dim sum specialist".

It was around 11:45am by the time we arrived. The look and feel of this restaurant was very unconventional

that's the name of the place i was talking about..Royal TeaHouse.

it's alrite if you want dim sum at a time when its not avilable at any other regular chinese restaurants. the prices are higher than average and tastes about average to slightly below.

i would only go if you get dim sum craving outside of regular dim sum hours.
