from where i can buy ADSL modem

Hi
2 years ago, I bought Dlink ADSL modem 520 from bestbuy for $34. I do not see bestbuy have it now. Canada Computers have one in Halifax and they do not ship it to Toronto. Amazon and Walmart sites are very confusing and I do not trust "other sellers" I am afraid they ship me a used one. They do not offer it but other sellers have it with really expensive more than double that price. I do not know from where I can buy basic but yet decent ADSL modem. Thank you so much.

Who is your service provider, where are you located and what ADSL speed tier are you using?

Thank you very much for your reply. Very risky to buy used modem. I prefer to pay more for a new one so I can have peace of mind

I was going to say the same thing that @Keigotw said. It's very hard to find a reliable ADSL modem these days as that tech is dated and everyone has pretty much moved on to VDSL or Cable Internet. All I am able to find are used ones going from $10 and up.

ST516 v6 - $10
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-computer-networ ... 1519744965
Was a very popular and reliable ADSL modem for its time. $10 easy to setup, unlocked and works with TSI.

Smart RG SR505n Gateway Modem - $25
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-computer-networ ... 1519687210
The most popular one that Teksavvy and Start.ca used to sell when they got access to VDSL services. It has an ADSL mode. You just have to call Teksavvy and get a tech support agent to configure it over the phone with you for ADSL mode with your information and tell them if you want it in routed mode (using its own router) or bridged mode (using your own router) configuration. Very easy to setup and the tech support guys have files on how to configure this modem.

Smart RG SR505n Gateway Modem - $30
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-computer-networ ... 1519640070
Another one as above for $30.

Brand NEW TP-Link TD W9970 VDSL Modem + Router + Firewall - $45
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-computer-networ ... 1519396376
This one is apparently brand new, according to the seller. 30 Brand New Sealed Units Available. Inventory Clearout 30 units of new old stock ... that might interest you

There is a Siemens model on Amazon.ca for $35 but according to the reviews its a piece of crap and doesn't work properly. Like that, they are impossible to find. Unless you want to pay $80 for a DLINK one from Amazon.

ok if you prefer new
you can get this one
Tenda D301 ADSL2Plus Modem Router (NET-TD-D301) $50.99
https://www.staples.ca/products/2720695 ... et-td-d301

for your DSL 7, that $10 modem is good enough. I used that same model of modem when I was using DSL 10. worked well for many years.

The ST516 v6 is rock solid, dead simple with zero frills and just works, though the SmartRG 505n is also a good choice if you want more modern and a router.

As mentioned above, Buy a Smart RG SR505n I have had one for years and its great! It also supports faster speeds for when you upgrade to VDSL. Teksavvy sells modems if you want brand new however the best option is to buy a used one from kijiji for around $30. You may not like it but its your best bet and should be fine, I have bought a used modem from kijiji in the past without any issues.

Also you will need to configure the modem before you can use it so you will likely need to contact Teksavvy so they can walk you through the process before it will work.

I bought a cable modem from http://speedtouch.ca/ and I can't complain. They also have ADSL modems.

They have local pickup in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. It is not a physical store. You just pickup from a guy's house.

Cheaper than Amazon and BestBuy?
Where would you buy it?

I did use speedtouch.ca but it was because it was the only place I could get a non-Puma6 cable modem supported for my particular ISP.
