Where are people buying their mattresses??

The mattress industry is entirely messed up. Manufacturers intently create new models for every retailer so no one can compare or price match. Every company is purely a marketing company just loaded with fake reviews. No one actually publishes specifications like wire gauge, foam types and qualities.

l I want to purchase reliable mattress but seems like sleep country has basically taken over the market (maybe department stores are exceptions) and are charging what they want.

So two questions : Where are RFDers buying their mattresses? And how much are you negotiating (like 70s car dealerships)?
Anyone use https://www.nationalmattress.ca ???

We’re looking at king size tempurpedic pro adapt or maybe pro breeze model and it’s 5600 bucks???

Costco when they go on sale. I don't really worry about the details.
Nobody cares which exploitative corporations you give your money to every month. Get that crap out of your signature.

Costco, The Bay, or a Family Run Furniture (Mom & Pop) local store

Don’t buy at Sleep Country, or any other Mattress specific chain
And of course NEVER at The Brick

You can find of reviews on these last 2 Retailers on line
Including here on RFD
Big problems … including court cases

Personally we still look for recognizable mattress names
Makes it a tad bit easier to compare pricing
Simmons, Sealy, Serta, Tempurpedic etc
(Example … Simmons Beautyrest Black line )

I have bought from them 2x so far and no issues.
Im not sure what you are looking for, so i cannot comment on price- but if your spending that amount of money best to shop around.

I did look at Costco in-store- and it was fine- I would have gotten from them if they had what i wanted...

I was in the market for a new mattress recently and had a hard time navigating the fake reviews and marketing claims. I settled on the Endy and I have liked it enough to not think about using the 100 night guarantee. I think the online retailers like Endy, GoodMorning, Casper etc. are the place to go because you can return the mattress within 100 days or so if you don't like it, and you are bypassing the showrooms and salespeople.

I was actually going to ask the same thing, I have no idea where to even look especially in Canada for a King size latex mattress or even a good king size mattress in general that doesn't break the bank.

Any one have any ideas on where to even look? As the OP said the mattress industry is a joke and everything is the same yet different so you don't price match

Ive been trying bed in a box companies so far and on my 3rd trial. Receiving the mattresses have been hassle free but returning so far has been painful (up to 2 weeks before I get the refund)

Ive gone with smaller companies so far. Maybe it's a different experience with the more known brands which Im planning to do. Unfortunately Costco doesnt have anything Im interested in.

Costco.

Sleep Country and the Brick are a waste of time, even if you don't fall for the hard sell, because how the mattresses feel in store is usually nothing like how they feel at home, you learn nothing. All they do is use the 2 minutes you spend laying on one as another way to pressure you; you lay on 10 of them so now you feel you can pick the best of the 10 and it'll be a good choice. Don't even start thinking about how if you don't end up liking it you can just exchange it for something else under their "guarantee". 100% total bullcrap.

Just got my new mattress from Costco 2 weeks ago. So far so good. Only hassle was trying to set up a delivery date. From what I've read, return is easy if you don't like it - just call them up and they'll come and pick it up and give full refund (not credit).

My only issue is that any mattress purchase from Costco.ca is based on reviews since you can't lie on it. They have a very small selection in warehouse (like maybe 2 models) from time to time but only single to queen, no king.
Tis banana is IRIE 😎

10% off is cold, 50% off is warm, 75% off is hot, but FREE IS RFD!

We have been buying Ikea mattresses for about 15 years. I like that there are no sales people, but there is someone to answers questions. They come rolled, so you don’t have to play the delivery game (“we’ll be there sometime between 8-1). You can try them out in the store hassle free. It is chaotic, but works well enough. Good warranty as well.

We always wear a hoodie, because…well…there are gross dirty people out there.

We bought a king sized one from IKEA last year. Reasonable price, comes rolled up so was easy to get. We’ve been very happy.

Genuinely interested in everyones “mattress in box” feedback here because frankly, many of the mattress in a box overnight companies are invested heavily into marketing. This on its own isn’t a bad thing, if it wasn’t for the fact that quality (I mean long term 3yr, 5yr, 7yr quality is a real concern (I’m not saying I know either way) Tear-downs of these mattresses show very low cost (ie low durability) foams …. And the hybrid versions are even worse as legget and plat (the main spring manufacture for MOST mattresses including all the s-brands) never designed their springs to be rolled and compressed the way these companies are storing and shipping them.

For more info there’s lots of information on Reddit under r/mattress

So far in my list to visits are: Foamite in Vaughan which manufactures high quality foam (latex included) for mattresses and furniture. They know their foam. And from their website they seem like they’ll build custom mattresses for YOU and they really stand behind him. Encouraging. Probably more expensive than the s-brands, but likely less expensive than the 5k sleep country wants for Tempurpedic.

For natural/latex Dormio in the castlefield area seems to have an interesting approach — custom latex (with published densities) with advanced (organic wool and cotton only ) zipp able covers.

Will try to update this thread with my findings.

BTW Latex is very interesting. https://www.sleeplikethedead.com/bed-ma ... -home.html Rates latex as THE most durable and on paper it seems like an all-around winner (likely higher upfront cost). This being said it is a unique “feel” and I really want to lie down on them for 5-10 mins at least. As one other RFDer mentioned — lying down in a showroom for 2-3 mins doesn’t do anything.

Honestly these days I wouldn't expect more than 7-10 years out of a mattress. Even the well-known brands, unless you specifically go for premium construction.
