Where you getting your PCR test before travel?

In GTA/Toronto, where are you guys getting PCR tests done?

Prices seem high from a simple Google search

Are you guys preferring to use the PCR or Rapid?

THanks,

Well I prefer doing no test. But that depends on what the destination country is requiring. Most Caribbean countries are asking for antigen tests, or nothing at all.

Fuk the PCR test

Medionerx is where I've personally gone - $85 + tax. Bunch of locations around the GTA.

Alpha Labs is $90 no tax I believe, so slightly cheaper, but only one location.

Thank you. For the PCR it currently says valid 3 days prior to departure. And I read it can take 24-36 hrs for results. So you basically have to visit a place 3 days before departure and just wait for the results.

Is it uploaded somewhere?

ArriveCAN account?

Check the rules for the country you are visiting and the airline you are flying.

The Google reviews on Alpha Labs are beyond horrible. Read them before choosing them. Price is right though.

Yeah, I only know one person who has actually gone there, but his experience was perfectly fine. Haven't gone there myself so can't vouch either way.

There's already an active thread for COVID testing in the GTA: Cheapest PCR Test for international travel in the GTA

It depends on the lab but yes in theory most people get it at the 3 day mark to avoid any delays. Note that each country has a different time frame and make sure you triple check that; while rare, I've seen some countries start it from time of arrival on their soil not time of departure of your flight there.

ArriveCAN is specifically for entry into Canada so it won't be used for your entry to South Africa. You need to lookup SA's entry protocols: https://www.gov.za/covid-19/individuals ... s-covid-19

When it comes to COVID, you have to regard each country border as separate entities with separate entry requirements with potentially separate apps/documentation needs. So you'll need one set of requirements for entry into South Africa, then another set of requirements when you re-enter Canada.

Thank you. This is so confusing and very complicated for most people for travel. I guess one way to deter them.

It's confusing but I think of COVID requirements like travel visas. While the process has been streamlined between many countries where it boils down to a stamp in your passport on arrival, many places in the world still require visas to be applied for ahead of your trip and those visas vary per country. COVID requirements are similar in that sense.

It is and I guess on how complicated the travel is. Like Ill need a test before flying out to Cape Town; then may need another one before flying domestic to Johannesburg. The the tour will help me with this across Botswana or Zimbabwe. But then coming back I probably need one before flying from Johannes burg to Cape Town; and maybe need another one from Cape Town to Toronto; depending how many days I stay in between. LOL
