Probably to stop someone from setting a residential address in Kapuskasing while their mailing address is in Brampton?

You can register both a mailing address and a residence address with the MTO but your licence is supposed to show where you actually live.
You can get a ticket for Fail to Notify Change of Address if you get stopped and the officer finds out that you don't actually live at the address shown.

Since Health cards now expire when your drivers license expire ( providing you have a drivers license ) they will compare both addresses when you renew as you are required to supply your correct residential address for both departments.

And what exactly in the big deal ???

the real answer is, you need to have where you actually live, some times auto insurance is cheaper if you put your grandmas address but don't actually live there, they want to avoid that because its fraudulent,

I suspect this is to prevent misuse, identity theft, exploitations of Canada laws and banking theft.

Criminals can reroute your mailing address and with both pieces of ID they can do a lot of damage (I.e. sell your home, open bank accounts, credit cards, new passport, etc.)
